"Empowering lives to capture our dreams into a reality". Hello everyone, Welcome to my new blog. Today, I am going to share something interesting after a long time. We all know that gender equality is a major issue happening across the world. They have been discriminated by their character, body-shaming, same-sex relationships, skin color, cultures, LGBTQ, etc. Let's make that change for a better world. Before that, I would like to watch this video for a better understanding below.
This video is all about presenting ‘The Future is Fluid’ in partnership with Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE, the short film—which premiered during the Sundance Film Festival—was directed by Jade Jackman and produced by Irregular Labs as a companion to The Irregular Report, a biannual report on and by Gen Z. The voices in the film represent this generation’s tenacity, curiosity, empathy, optimism and hope, redefining and representing the world through a prism of fluidity captured by the 24-year-old English director.
After watching this video, Its quite empowering and beautiful. But, when you start saying that a lot of people suppress their feelings and don't feel our act the way they really want to because they don't have that same belief or suppressed feeling you may have had.. you are wrong. Not everyone should be living the way you do. Just because it is right for you doesn't necessarily mean it'll be right for someone else. Keep up the fight. Just don't tell others how they feel.
I always have mixed feelings towards these sorts of campaigns and representations by major companies. None of them would have hopped on these trains a few years ago as the majority of people were not welcoming and it wasn't considered progressive and 'cool'. They might not have genuine and pure intentions and that's kind of off-putting and hypocritical but it still is representation and we need it as much as we can get it.
So How do you identify gender ?
Let's take an example from my personal life for a better understanding.
1. Do you identify yourself as a man or woman or another gender? - Your gender identity?
Yes, I do feel and identify myself as a woman with beauty of an innocent inner soul where I fight for myself to show it to the world.
2. How do you show your gender to other people through how you look or act? - Your gender expression?
The way I show my expression through desi style of twist i.e., traditional Indian outfits with minimalistic make - up to express my inner true beauty. I love wearing our cultural outfits anywhere to express myself as an innocent sweet child inner soul who fights for my freedom to live for myself. The expression mostly used to express to others is a childish, care-free, daydreamer and immature person who lives with full happiness of expressing herself with no fear even though the society talks behind my back. If once I decide what I want to be, if it is my expression or career, I will not change my decision and be strong to fight for my rights. Sometimes, I do express my anger and frustration in a very decent way like in the form of art like this in below.
3. And has your gender expression changed or stayed the same over time?
My expression never changed and it will always stay the same as I want to be to prove myself that I would survive in this world and fight for my rights who I want to be for myself and not for society.
4. Have you felt an expression of your gender at home or in society. How do you feel about it?
Yes, I did feel my expression at home and in society. I felt really bad that they forced me to change your expression as they feel embarrassed. I was shocked that even my parents didn’t like what I wanted to be but I felt somehow happy that they have at least supported my career decision even though my relatives were so against it because my family is full of engineers. Similarly, even society suggested that I change it but I was against them. But at least one of my friends supported me and didn’t force me to change it. They supported me thick and thin for more than 10 years. I felt really grateful for them and I felt really lucky that there is someone with a good soul who doesn’t care about what society says. I will fight and prove myself that I would survive in this world and be successful even in work-life balance.
Thus, this example shows how I have survived, battled and fought for my life where these people were against it. That gender fluidity is the antithesis of fear. If you accept that life is inherently fluid, you don’t need to be scared of shifts or the unexpected… you embrace it. Let's fight for our survival and spread the hands with lightness for our better world who demand to live in a world that is free.
